You strolled through Windsor Ford and noticed the unique STX badge on the side of the bed where the 4×4 sticker would normally reside. The STX is a unique package that was offered by Ford in 2003. The package was then dropped for a few years and came back in 2104, dropped for a few years again, but now is available again in 2017 as the new Ford F-150 STX Appearance Package and is again available for 2018. So what is the Ford F-150 STX Package exactly?
The STX Appearance F-150 Package
It’s important that the STX is not a trim level. Ford’s trim levels on the F-150 are the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Raptor. The STX is an appearance package that can be added to the XL trim level. This appearance package is arguably the best value available on the F-150. It turns a plain work truck XL, into a well-equipped truck for a reasonable price.
The package must be ordered in additional to the XL Sports Appearance Package, and in the package is included 20-inch machined aluminum wheels, privacy glass, fog lamps, and the unique STX exterior badging. On the interior, the big upgrade is the 8-inch Sync 3 radio (which supports Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto), along with manual driver lumbar support, rear window defroster, and unique sport cloth black seats.
Because it is based upon the XL F-150, the STX is a great alternative for someone who is wanting to purchase the pricier XLT F-150, but just can’t justify the more expensive vehicle payment. The best thing Ford did when creating the option list on the STX is including SYNC 3. The 8-inch touchscreen is a high-value option, one that most potential truck shoppers really want to be included on their new trucks. Previously it was necessary to upgrade to the XLT trim in order to get this option.
The STX F-150 is available at Windsor Ford now, and is a great fit who likes the look of a Sport package XLT, but would like to save a few thousand dollars. The best-kept secret among the new Ford truck, make sure you come into Windsor Ford for a test drive in a new STX before making your first purchase, you may regret it if you don’t.
